SABiosciences INTRODUCES AFFORDABLE PERSONALIZED DNA MICROARRAYS
Frederick, MD. June 15, 2005 - SABiosciences (www.sabiosciences.com)
announced today the launch of its new GEArray personalized microarray program.
This program allows researchers to individually tailor the gene content on
low-density microarrays quickly and cost-effectively with any set of human,
mouse or rat genes important to their research. By combining this flexibility
with the simplicity and affordability of their GEArray technology, SABiosciences
hopes to make customized microarrays a routine, tool for every gene expression
project.
SABiosciences is already a leading provider of Pathway-Focused DNA Microarrays.
Derived from the current literature and public databases in what they call a
"knowledge-based design", the content of their cataloged microarrays
covers over 50 different pathways and diseases. Currently available topics
include cancer, immunology, neuroscience, cardiovascular disease, toxicology,
signal transduction, apoptosis, stem cells and developmental biology.
"However," noted David Martz, Director of Marketing and Sales at
SABiosciences, "researchers are really the ones who know which genes are most
important for their specific research project. Their gene lists may come from
their own literature reviews, or may be discovered through their own microarray-based
surveys of the whole genome. This custom microarray service provides them with
the affordable flexibility they need to make the ideal focused microarray for
their initial experiments or larger screening and validation projects."
The customized microarrays utilize the same technology platform as
SABiosciences' cataloged Oligo GEArrays. By combining a nylon matrix with a high
DNA binding capacity and advanced technologies for array labeling and
chemiluminescent detection, SABiosciences reports that this GEArray system
delivers excellent sensitivity and robust performance using as little as 100 ng
of total RNA, or even less with a modified protocol. "The method is very
easy to perform and doesn't need any special or dedicated equipment,"
continued Martz. "The low price also allows it to be used routinely in any
biological laboratory setting. With their flexibility, ease-of-use and low
cost, these custom arrays should be well-suited for a very wide range of
laboratories interested in microarray experiments."
More information about the GEArray custom microarray program is available at
the company's web site at http://www.sabiosciences.com.
