RNA isolation optimized for gene expression analysis

SABiosciences has developed a method for the isolation of RNA from FFPE blocks that improves gene expression analysis performance by making the RNA more available for detection by microarrays and real-time PCR. It provides a greater sensitivity and higher percent positive call on our pathway-focused GEArray microarrays and on high-density, genome-wide microarrays such as those offered by Agilent. For real-time PCR, it yields lower threshold cycle values that are closer to those detected in fresh tissue. Now you can more reliably characterize the expression a specific set of genes relevant to a biological pathway or a disease state in your FFPE samples.

Reverses more chemical cross-links

The generation of FFPE blocks for the archival storage of tissue samples involves chemical cross-linking with formaldehyde. RNA crosslinked to itself and to other cellular components cannot be effectively isolated and is a poor template for the detection of expression profiles by DNA microarrays and real-time PCR. The ArrayGrade FFPE RNA isolation method from SABiosciences more effectively reverses cross-links than other competing methods. The reversal of cross-links improves the sensitivity of microarrays and real-time PCR providing researchers with more candidate genes for biomarker discovery, screening, and validation.

The ArrayGrade FFPE RNA Isolation Kit provides an easy and efficient approach to acquire total RNA of a greater purity and higher yield. The protocol takes 4 hours to perform with only 45 minutes of hands-on time, and the kit includes sufficient materials to purify 12 RNA samples.
