The
GEArray microarray technology provides gene expression profiling solutions to
researchers in many different fields of study. The key benefit of the GEArray
is its pathway-focused gene content. However, each pathway is usually available
for specific species and in specific technology platforms or formats. All of
these platforms have the same reliable, sensitive, and reproducible
performance; only the specific reagents and equipment needed to process the
microarrays are different. We therefore recommend finding your pathway and
species of interest first, and then choosing the technology or format second.
Base that decision on the ease-of-handling and throughput that you need as well
as the type of equipment accessible to you. Finally, determine the reagents
that you need to use the chosen microarrays.
Follow
these easy steps to find the right GEArray for your research:
1.
Pick Your Pathway
Use the list of links in the gray left-hand sidebar to find an Application
related to your research topic or click the "Complete Array List"
link. Browse through the alphabetical list on the new web page and find your
pathway of interest. Click on the pathway to see an expanded table of
products available for that pathway.
2.
Pick Your Species
From the table of pathway-related products, look to the second column to see
the species that we represent with this pathway. Microarrays can be available
for human, mouse, and / or rat.
3.
Pick The Available Technology That Best Suits Your Needs.
The next column will indicate the available technology platforms for your
pathway in your species of interest. These include the PCR Array, the cDNA
microarray and Oligo microarray. The Oligo GEArrays are available in two
different formats, the HybPlate and HybTube formats, which are indicated in
the product name.
-
If
a pathway is available in both the Oligo GEArray and cDNA formats:
Select the Oligo GEArray format so that you may take advantage of a
cost-savings benefit.
-
If
the Oligo GEArray is available in both the HybTube and HybPlate formats:
- Choose the HybTube format if you have a rotisserie hybridization oven
available and your sample number is small.
-
Choose the HybPlate format if you don't have a rotisserie hybridization oven
available or if you have large number of samples.
- Choose the two-day static protocol if you only have a standard 60 °C incubator.
- Choose the one-day agitation protocol if you require speed and more
throughput.
Remember that the second protocol requires the GEArray
Express Thermoshaker.
-
If
the Oligo GEArray is only available in the HybTube format:
Simply choose that format as long as you have a standard hybridization oven.
-
If
your pathway for your species is only available in the cDNA GEArray format:
Simply choose that format; we will continue to support your studies with
these microarrays.
